Check Out Six Kentucky Fishing Tournaments

Fishin’ For A Cure

Land yourself the $1000 first place prize at the St. Jude Fishing for a Cure Tournament.

Hosted by the Green River Bass Club in late July, the St. Jude Fishing for a Cure is an open tournament with proceeds benefiting the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.

General entry into the tournament is typically $75, with an optional $25 added to the Big Fish Pot. All the action takes place at Green River Lake, ramp number one.

Battle of the BASS

In eastern Kentucky, near the KY-TN border, find Somerset, a charming city and host of the annual Battle of the BASS fishing tournament.

Typically held the second weekend in May, the Battle of the BASS takes place on Lake Cumberland at General Burnside State Park. The three-day event features a $10,000 first place prize, and a $200 entry fee per two-person team.

Fishing with Veterans at Rough River Lake

Not far west of Cave City in western Kentucky, find Rough River Lake, site of one of the top fishing tournaments in the area.

Fishing with Veterans at Rough River Lake is one-day event where volunteer anglers help and escort up to 40 disabled Veterans out onto the lake for a full day of fishing. Volunteers for the event are always welcome, and local wild life authorities waive fishing license requirements for the day.

Lake Cumberland Bass Fishing Tournament

Each year in early May, Lake Cumberland hosts the Lake Cumberland Bass Fishing Tournament. Head for the Conley Bottom Marina, a short drive from Monticello, and participate in the official Walmart FLW Bass Fishing League event.

A $200 registration fee for boaters, and a $100 fee for co-anglers, the Lake Cumberland Bass Fishing Tournament features more than $12,000 in first place prizes.

Annual Open School Bass Tournament

Celebrate youth anglers at the annual Open School Bass Tournament at Lake Cumberland. Hosted by the Wayne County Kentucky High School Bass Bandits, the mid-September bass tournament is a one-day event, benefiting the Wayne County Bass Bandits.

Stay in nearby Monticello and enjoy a comfortable stay. Entry is $10 for every two-person team, with all of the action happening at Conley Bottom Marina at Lake Cumberland. Drive in from Albany or Columbia.

USA Bassin Next Generation at Nolin Lake

The U.S.A Bassin Next Generation series tournament takes place at Lake Nolin in late April. A $50 entry fee is required and an optional $10 Big Bass Catch is available.

Lake Nolin is part of Lake Nolin State Park, north of Franklin, and east of Central City. Moutardier Marina at Lake Nolin is where you’ll find the event – launch your boat, find your favorite fishing hole, and land the winner.
