Boone Station

While traveling in eastern Kentucky, take time to reconnect with the past. Make your way southeast of Lexington, to Boone Station. This historical site is where American explorer Daniel Boone lived for three years, in the late 1700s, during the American Revolutionary War. In total, approximately fifteen to twenty families lived on the site and joined forces against the American Indians.

Visit this 46-acre state historic site to view the reconstructed cabins and see life as it was centuries ago. Due to the significance of Boone's settlement of the Kentucky frontier, Daniel and Rebecca Boone's bodies were eventually moved to the State Cemetery located in Frankfort

Buffalo Trace Distillery

The state of Kentucky is certainly known for many things – bluegrass, horse racing, a popular and successful college basketball team (Wildcats, anyone?), and without a doubt, their bourbon. Capital City Airport

The Greater Louisville area features a wonderful selection of regional airports. The Capital City Airport is located in Frankfort, the capital of Kentucky, east of Louisville. Kentucky State University

Founded in 1886, Kentucky State University features historic buildings, an environmental education center, research facilities, residence halls and classroom buildings. This 511-acre campus and 203-acre agricultural research farm are located in Frankfort, the capital of Kentucky, in the eastern region. KSU is the smallest public university in Kentucky with a population of 2,700 students and 155 instructors.

Students attending this liberal studies institution can achieve an undergraduate degree in business, education, nursing, computer science, public administration and human services. Masters degree programs include public administration, business administration, aquaculture/aquatic sciences, Computer science and special education

Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial

You'll have no problem finding historic landmarks and monuments during your next visit to Kentucky. Head for the greater Louisville area and stay in Frankfort – home of the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Constructed in 1987, and officially dedicated in 1988, this monument honors the 1,103 Kentuckians who died fighitng in Vietnam War.

Woodford Reserve Distillery

The trail is comprised of six distilleries to promote Kentucky's bourbon industry. The Versailles Woodford Reserve Distillery, located north of Lawrenceburg, is one of them. The distillery is located on the site of a historic distillery, built in 1838. It joined the list of the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 and in 2000, it was designated a National Historic Landmark. Explore Frankfort and eastern KY for exceptional bourbon tastes.

The distinctive Woodford Reserve is the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby.
