Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum is home of the famous Kentucky Derby, an annual Thoroughbred horse race. The one-mile oval track opened in 1875 in Louisville and has hosted the Kentucky Derby annually since then. Churchill Downs also hosts the Kentucky Oaks race on the Friday before the derby.
