The rich history of bourbon production is alive and well in the Louisville area. One of the most recognizable and best-selling brands of bourbon whiskey, is Jim Beam. The history of Jim Beam dates back to 1795, when Jacob Beam sold his first barrel of whiskey, Old Jake Beam, from the Old Tub distillery. During and after Prohibition, James B. Beam kept the family business going, including rebuilding the distillery near Clermont in 1933. The whiskey name, Jim Beam, is in honor of him. Throughout seven generations, the Beam brand has produced the finest bourbon.
The current master distiller, Frederick Booker Noe III, continues his family heritage as the seventh generation Beam distiller. The Beam family has also contributed to the success of the Heaven Hill Distilleries, since members of the Beam family have been the master distillers, since its beginning. Visit the Jim Beam Distillery, south of Shepherdsville, to see historic T. Jeremiah Beam house, the 1880's copper still and the old rack house, built by Jim Beam. Be sure to taste the Small Batch Bourbon, before leaving. Enjoy your time along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, as a guest of Best Western hotels, where comfortable accommodations await.
