Visiting Greater Louisville
You’ll find an impressive collection of things to do and see this fall in the Greater Louisville area. Whether it’s some of Kentucky’s premier attractions, the charming suburbs, or the eclectic calendar of events, festivals and concerts this fall, the Louisville area will no doubt yield an excellent adventure for all who visit.
You can enjoy a tour, complete with tastings and a gift shop, of the very popular Buffalo Trace Distillery in nearby Frankfort, or explore the Kentucky State Capitol on a tour – 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays until the end of October. No tours on Sundays.
The fall will yield excellent college football experiences this year. Head to the Alumni Stadium in Frankfort on September 17th and catch the Kentucky State Thorobreds in action against the Virginia State Trojans. And in Louisville, you can see the Louisville Cardinals wrap up their season with a home game against the in-state rival Kentucky Wildcats on November 26th at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
Don’t miss out on one of Louisville’s premier annual events – Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in Central Park. Now through August 7th, you can check out free and live productions of Shakespeare’s greatest hits.
Celebrating 56 years, the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival will also feature a variety of food options thanks to a partnership with the Louisville Food Truck Association. Make the short drive in from nearby Shelbyville or La Grange.
Through late summer and into fall, the greater Louisville area will boast a wide range of excellent live performances and concerts. Don’t miss your chance to see the eclectic Andrew Bird on September 9th at the Iroquois Amphitheater. On October 13th, the band Of Montreal will be live on stage at Headliner’s Music Hall starting at 9 p.m., and on November 7th you can see Band of Horses live at the Louisville Palace.
